Creating a Values-Based Jewish Food Ethic - class with Rabbi Jake
    Shabbat, Apr 13th 12:30p to 2:00p
It comes as no surprise that Jews care a lot about food, and that our tradition has a lot to say about what we eat and when. From biblical times, our religion has sought to further our connection to the Holy One by instructing us regarding eating and drinking - things we do several times a day. Beyond the question of Kashrut, what would it look like to eat and drink in holy ways that helped us live our values? We’ll explore ideas of buying, cooking, and eating according to the virtues we espouse, and discuss how we might better live according to our ideals.

Queer Jewish Theology - class with Rabbi Jake
    Wednesday, May 22nd 7:30p to 9:00p
We’ll join as a group to learn from some contemporary Queer Jewish thinkers. We’ll learn what they have to teach about ways in which their queerness influences their readings of Jewish text and their conceptions of the Holy One and how that being/force relates to our world and to us. We’ll even examine excerpts from our very own siddur and machzor to better understand how an LGBTQ+ congregation can express identity and understanding of God in prayer.
